KP weather alert: rain and snow forecast until December 15
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, forecasting rain in the plains and snow in hilly and mountainous areas from December 12 to 15.
According to the PDMA, precipitation is expected in districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Galiyat, and Haripur.
Upper regions such as Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Jaboori may face slippery roads due to snowfall.
The agency warned that heavy rain and snow could increase the risk of landslides in vulnerable areas.
In addition, rainfall and snowfall are expected in Buner, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, and North and South Waziristan.
Plains districts including Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, and Sawabi may see light rain.
The PDMA also highlighted that fog in the plains could reduce visibility, posing additional risks for commuters.
Relevant departments have been instructed to take precautionary measures and remain on high alert until the weather stabilises.
