Nation will reap the harvest of seeds sown by Faiz and General Bajwa for years: Defence minister
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday said that the nation would continue to pay a price for the actions of former military leaders.
Reacting to the sentencing of former Lt-Gen Faiz Hameed, Khawaja Asif said that the nation would continue to “reap the harvest of the seeds sown by Faiz Hameed and General Bajwa for years”.
In a statement posted on social media, Asif wrote: “May God forgive us. May He grant us the ability to regard power and authority as His blessing and to use it for the benefit of His creation.”
The minister further prayed: “May fear of God become the hallmark of those who govern. Ameen.”
His remarks come after Faiz Hameed was handed a 14-year rigorous imprisonment sentence, effective from December 11, 2025.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the former general was sentenced under the Pakistan Army Act following a Field General Court Martial.
The court-martial process lasted 15 months and involved proceedings on four charges against him.
Reiterating his stance on X, Asif said the country would “reap the crop of the seeds sown by Faiz Hameed and General Bajwa for years,” and prayed for guidance to use power “as a divine trust for the people,” adding that “fear of God should be the way of all rulers.”
