IHC grants 10-day protective bail to YouTubers Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday approved a 10-day protective bail for YouTuber Rajab Butt and TikTok creator Nadeem Naniwala, restraining authorities from arresting them during this period.
Justice Inam Amin Minhas heard the petitions and directed both content creators to approach the relevant trial courts within ten days.
The judge made it clear that the court was granting only 10 days of protective bail, after the petitioners’ counsel requested 15 days, citing additional cases registered in Karachi.
“Ten days are being granted; approach the concerned court within this period,” Justice Minhas remarked while disposing of the petitions.
The court’s latest order follows Tuesday’s proceedings, during which the IHC had also barred authorities from arresting Butt and Naniwala upon their arrival at Islamabad Airport.
Their lawyers informed the court that the creators intended to return to Pakistan to face pending investigations related to gaming app and cybercrime cases.
Rajab Butt was deported from the United Kingdom on Tuesday morning after his UK visa was cancelled, reportedly due to non-disclosure of ongoing legal cases.
Butt, known for his viral online content and large social media following, is facing multiple inquiries in Pakistan.
