Quetta bans pillion riding, weapon display and public gatherings under Section 144
The Balochistan government on Monday imposed wide-ranging restrictions in Quetta under Section 144, citing heightened security concerns ahead of the year-end.
According to the Home Department, the ban, effective until December 22, 2025, covers the display and use of weapons, pillion riding on motorcycles, vehicles with tinted windows, and the movement of unregistered motorcycles.
The order also prohibits public gatherings of five or more people, including rallies and processions, and bars the use of mufflers or masks to conceal faces in public places.
The transport of acid and explosive materials within Quetta has also been declared illegal.
Police, Levies and Frontier Corps have been directed to enforce the restrictions strictly.
Violators will face action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code and other relevant laws.
The Home Department has further instructed the Deputy Commissioner Quetta to submit daily compliance reports regarding the implementation of the ban.
