The leading US business magazine Forbes has praised the Punjab government’s ‘Suthra Punjab’ initiative, highlighting the efforts of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her team.

In a report authored by best-selling writer Paul Klein, Forbes described how the Punjab government transformed the province’s biggest sanitation challenge into an effective and sustainable system within a short period.

The report noted that establishing a sanitation system for 130 million people in just eight months is a remarkable achievement.

Before the current government’s tenure, around 70 million people in Punjab and nearly 25,000 towns and villages lacked basic sanitation facilities.

According to the report, the CEO of Suthra Punjab, Babar Sahib Din, revealed that the programme introduced a model to monitor 30,000 vehicles and 150,000 workforce using modern digital dashboards, setting a global example.

Forbes also highlighted that the programme was presented at the COP30 conference in Brazil as a model for integrated sanitation and climate action.

Beyond cleanliness, the initiative is generating new opportunities in employment, environment, public health, and the private sector.

The report stated that the second phase of the programme will focus on projects such as waste-to-value, waste-to-energy, and carbon credits.

Forbes stated that the success of Suthra Punjab is a clear testament to the vision of political leadership and the tireless efforts of the administrative team.
