Punjab to build 1,362 modern bus shelters in 19 districts
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday approved the construction of 1,362 modern bus shelters across 19 districts to provide safer and more dignified travel facilities to commuters.
She directed authorities to complete the project within 45 to 60 days.
Officials said work on 588 shelters has already begun, while tenders for another 774 have been issued.
Maryam said elderly passengers, women and families should not be forced to wait in harsh weather.
She added that Punjab’s public transport system is entering a “revolutionary phase” with the rollout of redesigned, durable shelters that will also improve the visual appeal of cities.
