Sindh govt allocates over Rs10 trillion for development: CM
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that the provincial government’s development portfolio exceeds Rs10 trillion, with Rs8.55 billion earmarked specifically for the supply of clean water and drainage systems in Karachi.
The chief minister was speaking at a review meeting of the 2025-26 development portfolio, where he highlighted progress on key infrastructure and municipal projects.
Funds have been released for the K-IV, Hub, Stormwater Drain, and other projects to ensure timely completion, he said.
A total of 293 water, sanitation, and municipal services schemes have been approved.
Shah instructed the provincial chief secretary to ensure the prompt release of funds for all approved schemes, including those aimed at expanding drinking water and sewage systems in urban and rural areas.
He stressed that environmentally sustainable infrastructure remains a top priority, adding that projects such as the Korangi Causeway Bridge, underpasses, and Lyari Transformation Project are nearing completion.
The chief minister also highlighted the Sindh Public Housing Fund (SPHF) as the world’s largest housing programme for flood-affected families, noting that 1.4 million payments have been made and 1 million units completed.
He said the programme has granted land ownership rights to 900,000 women.
Shah further outlined initiatives in road construction, canals, small dams, education, health, agriculture, and social protection.
During the meeting, officials briefed him on ongoing projects aimed at improving road networks and connectivity in both urban and rural areas. Progress on the 620 road projects was also reviewed.
