Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah rejects talk of new provinces
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has categorically dismissed all talks regarding the creation of new provinces, declaring that “such remarks should be heard from one ear and let out from the other”.
Speaking to the media at the Sindh Craft Festival at Port Grand in Karachi, the chief minister said that “no one except God has the power to divide Sindh”.
Commenting on recurring calls for new provinces, the chief minister rejected the notion entirely, reiterating that such proposals held no relevance.
Shah said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had already dismissed suggestions to amend the 18th Amendment or alter the provincial share under the NFC Award.
He added that similar proposals were rejected in the draft 27th Amendment as well.
Murad Ali Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party had a track record of “turning dreams into reality,” underscoring the party’s vision for development and governance.
When asked about a possible change in the Sindh governor, Shah clarified that neither he nor the provincial government played any role in such decisions, adding that they were not consulted on new appointments.
On the law-and-order situation, the chief minister expressed regret that a handful of groups had been disrupting public life.
He said that at times, “50 to 150 people hold the entire city hostage”.
He added that when roads are blocked repeatedly, the government is compelled to take action.
