Sri Lanka edge Pakistan by 6 runs to seal spot in tri-series final

Chasing 185, Green Shirts managed only 178 for 7 in their 20 overs

Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by six runs in the sixth match of the tri-nation T20 series in Rawalpindi on Thursday, securing their place in the tournament final.

Pakistan will now face the visitors in the title match on November 29.

Batting first at Pakistan’s invitation, Sri Lanka posted 184 for five in 20 overs.

Kamil Mishara anchored the innings with a 48-ball 76, hitting six fours and three sixes.

He shared a 64-run stand with Kusal Mendis for the second wicket and added 57 for the fourth wicket with Janith Liyanage.

For Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed claimed two wickets for 28, while Salman Mirza and Saim Ayub took one each.

Chasing 185, Pakistan managed only 178 for seven in their 20 overs.

The hosts struggled to maintain momentum against disciplined Sri Lankan bowling and fell short despite contributions from the top order.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and elected to field, saying he wanted to continue the winning streak.

Pakistan made two changes, resting Usman Tariq and Naseem Shah, while Abrar Ahmed and Salman Mirza returned to the XI. Sri Lanka fielded the same side that beat Zimbabwe.

Pakistan had already qualified for the final, while Sri Lanka needed a win to secure their place.

A loss would have left their fate dependent on the net run rate against Zimbabwe.
