Two killed, one critically injured in old explosives blast in Bajaur
Two locals were killed and another critically injured on Wednesday when old explosives detonated in the Jannat Shah area of Tehsil Khar, under the jurisdiction of Loisum police station in Bajaur.
The deceased have been identified as 18-year-old Shamshad, son of Wisal Khan, and 22-year-old Usman, son of Niaz Ali.
The injured, 25-year-old Qayam, son of Inayat-ur-Rahman, was rushed to Khar Hospital, where officials said his condition remains critical.
Rescue Officer Amjad Khan confirmed the fatalities and the hospitalisation of the injured.
District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq said an investigation into the incident has been launched.
Police bomb disposal squads are working in the area to defuse additional grenades and explosives.
Authorities are also maintaining contact with residents and have urged them to keep children away from the site for safety.
The DPO emphasised that bomb disposal operations are ongoing daily in the region to prevent such accidents and ensure public safety.
