Imran Khan’s sisters stage sit-in after denied Adiala Jail meeting
A scheduled meeting day for PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail turned tense on Tuesday after police stopped party leaders, workers and the former premier’s sisters from entering the facility.
Police blocked all visitors at Factory Naka, prompting Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, to stage a sit-in along with party workers.
The protest has continued for more than nine hours, with the sisters insisting they will not leave without meeting their brother.
SSP Investigation Rawalpindi Raza Tanveer arrived at the checkpoint to negotiate, but officials said the first round of talks ended without a breakthrough.
Heavy police deployment remains in place around the area, while a prisoner transport vehicle has also been brought to the site.
Opposition leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas also joined the sit-in to express solidarity with the protesters. Party workers continued chanting slogans during the standoff.
Imran Khan’s sisters have vowed not to end the sit-in until they are allowed to meet him inside Adiala Jail.
