PML-N on course for clean sweep in Punjab by-elections
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is on track for a clean sweep in Punjab’s by-elections on Sunday, with unofficial results showing their candidates leading on all seats.
In Lahore, PML-N’s Hafiz Muhammad Nauman is ahead in the constituency that fell vacant after the passing of Mian Azhar, father of PTI’s Hammad Azhar.
In Dera Ghazi Khan, PML-N’s Mahmood Qadir Laghari is significantly ahead of PPP’s Dost Muhammad Khosa in the seat that fell vacant following PTI’s Zartaj Gul’s disqualification.
In Sahiwal’s NA-143, previously held by disqualified PTI lawmaker Rai Hassan Nawaz, PML-N’s Muhammad Tufail Jutt has a clear lead over his competitors.
In NA-96, another seat that fell vacant after the disqualification of the PTI lawmaker, initial results showed Minister of State Talal Chaudhry’s brother, Bilal Chaudhry, in the lead.
The runner-up in this constituency was also a former PML-N candidate.
In Faisalabad’s second seat, Raja Danial Ahmed, son of Raja Riaz Ahmed, was leading in the constituency that fell vacant due to Sahibzada Hamid Raza’s disqualification.
Celebrations by PML-N supporters erupted across various regions, with bhangra performances and fireworks marking the party’s apparent success in the by-elections.
By-elections were held in Haripur, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Muzaffargarh.

NA-185 Dera Ghazi Khan:
According to unofficial results from 217 of 226 polling stations in NA-185 Dera Ghazi Khan, PML-N candidate Mahmood Qadir Laghari is currently leading with 74,486 votes.
PPP candidate Sardar Dost Khosa is in second place with 47,462 votes.
NA-143 Chichawatni:
According to unofficial results from 363 of 442 polling stations in NA-143 Chichawatni, PML-N candidate Muhammad Tufail has secured 136,223 votes, maintaining a clear lead.
Independent candidate Zarar Akbar Choudhry is in second place with 13,220 votes.
NA-18 Haripur:
Unofficial results from 292 of 602 polling stations in NA-18 Haripur showed PML-N’s Babar Nawaz in lead with 81,655 votes.
Independent candidate Shehernaz Umar Ayub is in second place with 56,981 votes.
NA-129 Lahore:
According to unofficial results from all 334 polling stations in NA-129 Lahore, PML-N candidate Hafiz Nauman has emerged victorious with 63,441 votes.
The PTI-backed independent candidate Arslan Hamd secured 29,099 votes, finishing in second place.
Voter turnout in the constituency was recorded at 18.67 per cent across all polling stations.
NA-96 Faisalabad:
Unofficial results from 100 polling stations show PML-N’s Bilal Badr ahead with 21,960 votes; independent Malik Nawab Sher Wesir at 9,028.
NA-104 Faisalabad:
According to unofficial results from 151 of 375 polling stations in NA-104 Faisalabad, PML-N candidate Raja Danial is leading with 20,521 votes.
Independent candidate Rana Adnan is in second place with 7,647 votes.

PP-203 Sahiwal:
According to unofficial results from all 185 polling stations in PP-203 Sahiwal, PML-N’s Chaudhry Hanif Jutt secured 46,820 votes to win the seat.
Independent candidate Falak Sher Dogar came in second with 10,975 votes.
PP-73 Sargodha:
Unofficial results from 59 polling stations in PP-73 Sargodha show PML-N’s Sultan Ali Ranjha leading with 23,697 votes.
Independent candidate Haris Ranjha is in second place with 5,726 votes.
PP-98 Faisalabad:
Unofficial results from polling stations in PP-98 Faisalabad show PML-N’s Azad Ali Tabsum leading with 5,932 votes, while independent candidate Ajmal Cheema trails with 5,546 votes.
PP-115 Faisalabad:
Unofficial results from 129 polling stations in PP-115 Faisalabad show PML-N’s Mian Tahir Jamil leading with 25,660 votes, while independent candidate Muhammad Asghar holds second place with 1,487 votes.
PP-116 Faisalabad:
Unofficial results from 162 polling stations in PP-116 Faisalabad show PML-N’s Rana Shaharyar leading with 42,633 votes, while independent candidate Asghar Qaiser is in second place with 9,860 votes.
PP-87 Mianwali:
Unofficial results from 120 polling stations in PP-87 Mianwali indicate PML-N’s Ali Haider Noor in the lead with 54,214 votes, while independent candidate Nawabzada Ayaz Khan holds second place with 3,270 votes.
PP-269 Muzaffargarh:
Unofficial results from 110 polling stations in PP-269 Muzaffargarh show Pakistan Peoples Party’s Alamdar Abbas Qureshi leading with 42,976 votes, while independent candidate Iqbal Khan Pitafi is in second place with 30,072 votes.
Early unofficial tallies from Sunday’s by-elections suggest the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has taken the lead in the majority of National and provincial constituencies.
The Pakistan Peoples Party, meanwhile, appears to hold an edge in only one provincial seat in Muzaffargarh.
Official final results will be announced once all votes are counted.
The Election Commission continues to monitor counting, and these results remain unofficial.
