Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was failed to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Thursday, as police prevented all scheduled visitors from entering.

CM Afridi arrived at the jail seven times seeking a meeting, which included six other leaders on the approved list, but police stopped him and other leaders, including MNAs Shahid Khattak and former provincial assembly speaker Mushtaq Ghani, at the Dahgal checkpoint.

With visiting hours over, Afridi and the other leaders returned without meeting the PTI founder. Tight security arrangements were in place throughout the day.

Speaking to the media at the Dahgal checkpoint, CM Afridi condemned the incident involving the PTI founder’s sisters, saying it was “shameful and unacceptable.”

He expressed concern that no political leader, family member, or lawyer had been allowed to meet the founder.

CM Afridi said he had written letters and called the Chief Justice regarding the issue, but received no response.

“What more should PTI or I do if we are denied meetings for pursuing constitutional and democratic channels?” he asked.

CM Afridi also raised concerns about legal actions against him, including an FIR, a case registered with the FIA, and a passport blacklisting preventing him from leaving the country.

He criticised the misrepresentation of his remarks about electoral integrity, saying, “I had said yesterday that there should be no rigging, but this statement was twisted. Strong institutions are the hallmark of a strong state. I have instructed that any attempt to manipulate mandates must be stopped. Violating Article 6 carries a penalty.”
