Gunmen attack Karachi car showroom over extortion demand

Showroom owners protest after threats and shooting over unpaid Rs 5 million extortion

Extortion threats resurfaced in Karachi on Tuesday as gunmen opened fire at a car showroom on New M.A. Jinnah Road after owners refused to pay Rs5 million, police said.

According to authorities, an unidentified suspect allegedly called showroom owner Nawab and demanded the payment, warning that failure to comply would have “serious consequences.”

The gunfire damaged a vehicle parked outside, but no injuries were reported.

Police rushed to the scene, collected evidence, and launched an investigation.

In protest, all showroom owners in the area temporarily closed their businesses.
