Low-pressure system in Arabian Sea intensifies into depression, no threat to Pakistan’s coast: PMD

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a notification regarding the formation of a depression over the southeast Arabian Sea.

According to a PMD spokesperson, the low-pressure area over the region has intensified into a depression, with its centre located near latitude 8.6°N and longitude 67.6°E — about 1,800 kilometres southeast of Karachi.

The system is expected to move in a north-northwesterly direction over the next 24 hours.

The PMD clarified that there is currently no threat to any coastal area of Pakistan.
