A speeding water tanker collided with a Qingqi rickshaw in Orangi Town No. 1 on Tuesday, killing a 10-year-old boy and injuring a passerby, police said.

Following the crash, enraged residents set the water tanker ablaze.

The injured passerby, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, was rushed to a nearby hospital along with the body of the deceased child, identified as Javed, police added.

According to officials, the tanker driver fled the scene after the accident.

“Efforts are underway to arrest the driver responsible for the incident,” a police spokesperson said.
