In recent developments, the government, Shia Ulema Council and Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) have agreed on a 7-point agenda, after which the decision on the Arbaeen march has been postponed.

In a joint press conference in Karachi, the Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) has announced the end of the Arbaeen march. The government has decided to form a high-level committee for negotiations, which will also include members of the MWM and the Shia Ulema Council.

Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, along with Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori and MWM leaders, said that seven points have been agreed upon between the government and the religious leadership.

The Minister of State said that this year, there will be no travel by road for Arbaeen. Instead, flight operations to Iraq will commence in the next two to three days.

Chaudhry also said that efforts will be made to extend the validity of Iraqi visas by sixty days. Pilgrims who have already been issued visas will be provided tickets at concessional rates.

He further added that the students at the border will be allowed to enter Iran and the government apologizes for the difficulties faced by the pilgrims this year.

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori emphasised that the access to shrines should not be restricted, stating that the Arbaeen march has been postponed in favor of resolving issues through dialogue rather than protest.
