Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday announced the advent of Pakistan’s first-ever dust suspension system to fight smog in Punjab.

Chief minister took X (former Twitter) to share that the “world-tested” dust suspension system, which comprises 15 Anti Smog Guns, has arrived in Lahore.

According to the tweet, “These advanced fog cannons spray ultra fine water mist to capture harmful airborne particles, including PM2.5 & PM10, forcing them to settle and clean the air”.

“The Anti Smog Guns machines will be deployed in Lahore and will be fully integrated with Punjab’s real-time air quality monitoring network and the Environment Protection Force,” wrote Maryam Nawaz.

The Anti Smog Guns can be activated automatically wherever “pollution spikes”.

They are linked with “satellite data, drones, QR coded kilns & AI-based tracking”.

Maryam Nawaz regarded the installation as “ a major leap forward in environmental enforcement“.

“With resolve, technology, innovation, and citizens’ participation, we will together Insha’Allah win the fight against smog,” she affirmed.
