At least seven people, including women and children, were injured in a powerful explosion on Wednesday afternoon in the Sher Wali Society area of Rais Goth, Baldia Town, Karachi, reportedly caused by a gas leak.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred around 1.30pm and was so intense that two walls of the house collapsed, followed by a fire that engulfed the premises.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Initial police reports suggest the blast may have been caused by a gas leak. To determine the exact nature and cause of the explosion, a Bomb Disposal Squad has been called in for further investigation.
