Karachi Landhi Export Processing Zone fire continues to burn after 24 hours
A major fire at the Karachi Landhi Export Processing Zone remains uncontained more than 24 hours after it erupted. Twelve fire brigade vehicles are still actively working to extinguish the flames.
Fire officials report that flames continue to blaze at various points within all three affected factories, complicating firefighting efforts as all access routes have been blocked.
Fire Officer Arif Mansoori stated that the fire brigade is diligently working to contain the flames and cool the area.
While the spread of the fire has been stopped, the cooling process is anticipated to take several more hours.
Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties; however, substantial amounts of valuable goods have been destroyed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The affected factories were engaged in the production of textiles and other export items, raising concerns about potential losses amounting to millions of rupees.
The massive blaze that broke out on June 7 in the Export Processing Zone of Karachi’s Landhi area raged for over 12 hours, gutting at least four factories and injuring five people after a portion of a building collapsed. According to reports, the fire erupted suddenly in the morning, causing widespread panic in the area. Fire department officials classified it as a third-degree fire due to its intensity and rapid spread.
