PMD warns of rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms across Pakistan
The Met Office has issued a weather alert, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorms in various regions of the country over the next few days.
The severe weather conditions are likely to pose a threat to crops and solar panel infrastructure.
According to the department, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, and Jhelum are expected to be hit by strong thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and hail.
Authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to witness unpredictable weather. Rainfall is likely in multiple districts, including Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohistan, Battagram, Haripur, Torghar, Swabi, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Khyber, and Kurram.
In contrast, the province’s southern districts are likely to experience severe heat.
In Punjab, while most areas will remain hot and dry, rainfall is expected in the Rawalpindi Division, Murree, Galiyat, and some northern parts.

The PMD also warned that the plains of Sindh and Balochistan will face extreme temperatures, with heat levels projected to remain above seasonal averages.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also likely to experience rain and hail, raising concerns over potential landslides in mountainous areas.
Citizens, especially farmers and travelers, are advised to stay alert, limit unnecessary travel, and safeguard electrical and solar equipment installed in open spaces.
