Met office warns of intense heat during Eid
As heatwave continues to sweep across Pakistan’s plains, the Met Office warning of persistently high temperatures during Eid ul-Adha, falling between June 7 and June 9.
Meanwhile, a fresh spell of rainfall is expected to begin in the country’s northern and western regions starting today.
According to the Met Office, moisture-laden winds are entering northeastern Pakistan, while a new westerly system is making its way into the upper parts of the country. This weather pattern is expected to affect northern areas until June 5.
Rain is forecast in multiple regions including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Gujrat. In contrast, the southern and central plains are battling intense heat.
On Monday, Sibi recorded the highest temperature at 48 degree Celsius, followed by Jacobabad at 47 degree Celsius, Dadu at 46 degree Celsius, and Moenjodaro and Turbat at 45 degree Celsius.

Other cities including Sukkur, Nawabshah, D.G. Khan, Bahawalpur, Hyderabad, and Multan also reported extreme heat, with temperatures ranging between 41 degree Celsius and 43 degree Celsius.
Faisalabad and Lahore reached 40 degree Celsius, while Karachi and Islamabad registered 37 degree Celsius. Quetta remained relatively cooler at 34 degree Celsius.
With extreme heat expected to persist during Eid holidays, authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, limit sun exposure, and stay hydrated.
