Several senators in the upper house of Pakistani Parliament on Thursday demanded action against India-backed terrorists in Balochistan, a day after a school bus was blown up in Khuzdar. Senator Faisal Vawda also proposed to increase the defense budget and called for reaching out to PTI.

The senate India’s support for terrorism in Pakistan. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Senator Irfaq Siddiqui and others also spoke.

Vawda suggested the budget be raised by two to three times to enhance the country’s security and defense capabilities, calling for doubling the salaries of the Pakistan Armed Forces and serious investment in strategies to compete with India.

He asserted that development should only be considered after addressing the ongoing conflict with India.

Reassuring the nation, he stated that Pakistan is in safe hands and united, but acknowledged that the challenge lies in finding effective ways to increase the budget significantly.

Vawda also urged the government to take bold steps and engage in constructive dialogue with the opposition to resolve differences.

Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar delivered an emotional address, stressing the need to address the tragic loss of innocent children and attributing the attacks on Pakistan to the extremist ideologies of the RSS and BJP.

Kakar expressed frustration at the Deputy Chairman’s directive to conclude his speech, questioning, “If we can’t discuss matters here, should I start creating TikTok or YouTube content instead?”

Irfan Siddiqui’s remarks

Senator Irfan Siddiqui said the Khuzdar incident was so horrific that words could not do justice to its condemnation. He questioned how anyone on earth could be so cruel and asked what kind of rights the perpetrators were trying to demand through such violence. He stressed that the truth must now be clearly established.

He stated that three innocent girls were martyred while they were on their way to school.

He said India was behind the attack, providing funding, weapons, and training to terrorists. He described India as an enemy that lacked even the dignity expected from an adversary.

Siddiqui argued that being aggrieved or demanding rights did not justify the slaughter of children. He maintained that those involved were terrorists and should not be shown any sympathy, but rather crushed through decisive action. While acknowledging that some people opposed military operations out of concern for civilian casualties, he questioned whether such terrorists should now be welcomed with garlands.

He said the only solution was to eliminate them without facing any opposition. Siddiqui was of the view that India’s tactics would not succeed. He believed the individuals involved were not simply angry or fighting for rights but had turned violence into a livelihood.

He added that India had already learned its lesson and would not be able to overpower Pakistan. He asserted that a new revolution would rise from the blood of the martyred girls, which would deeply trouble India. Siddiqui said the nation’s emotions and sympathies were with the innocent girls, and that there should be no two opinions about crushing terrorism. He stressed there should be no sympathy for terrorists and ruled out the possibility of bringing them to the negotiating table.

He reiterated his stance that India was nurturing terrorists and supplying them with weapons. Recalling past incidents, he said a similar attack had taken place in Peshawar eleven years ago and that the terrorists involved in the Khuzdar attack must be crushed.

Sherry Rehman’s remarks

Senator Sherry Rehman said targeting children was an inhumane act and that no level of condemnation could be enough for the Khuzdar incident. She pointed out that Pakistan had always condemned terrorism in all its forms.

She noted that children were targeted while they were going to school and said Pakistan had carried out anti-terrorism operations in the past and continued to confront terrorism today.

Rehman stated that Pakistan had always demonstrated flexibility in its approach and had responded to aggression firmly. She mentioned that Kulbhushan Jadhav had been caught and was involved in similar incidents.

She added that many people in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been martyred and reminded the house that Pakistan had lost Benazir Bhutto to terrorism. According to her, there was clear evidence of Indian involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan, while India had not been able to provide evidence for any of its own allegations.

She further said India had targeted civilians in its attacks, including in the first assault of an 87-hour conflict, whereas Pakistan’s response had focused solely on military targets.

Aimal Wali Khan’s remarks

Senator Aimal Wali Khan expressed deep sorrow, saying that perhaps even animals were not killed in the way innocent children had been in Khuzdar. He questioned why the National Action Plan, which came after the APS Peshawar tragedy, was still not being implemented.

He warned that such incidents would continue to occur if the plan was not enforced and asked whether action would be taken against the officials who had failed to implement it. He lamented that even after fifty years, there had been no clarity on whether the Taliban were “good” or “bad”, or whether they were terrorists or strategic assets.

Khan said the people of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were tired of being subjected to proxy wars. He emphasized that peace would not come from America or Saudi Arabia, but would have to be ensured by Pakistan’s own defense institutions.

He also questioned the performance of the federal ministries and said the country should work towards making the region a hub of peace and trade. He added that it was time to move beyond assumptions and engage in meaningful dialogue with Iran and Afghanistan.
