Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to meet on May 27 to decide Eid ul Adha date
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has convened a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (CRHC) on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 (29th Ziqad 1446 AH) to sight the crescent of Zulhajj 1446 AH, which will determine the date for Eid ul Adha in Pakistan.
According to an official notification, the meeting will be held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Kohsar Block, Pak Secretariat, Islamabad. The session will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Notification states that, “The meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (CRHC) for sighting the Moon of Zulhajj 1446 A.H. will be held In-Shaa-Allah, in the evening of Tuesday, the 27th May 2025, corresponding (29th Ziqaad 1446 A.H) at Islamabad in the office of Ministry of Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony.”
As per ministry officials, if the Zulhajj moon is sighted on May 27, Eid ul Adha will be observed on Friday, June 6, 2025. If the moon is not sighted, Eid will fall on Saturday, June 7.
Astronomers have predicted that the moon is more likely to be sighted on May 28, suggesting Eid may likely be celebrated on June 7. However, the final decision will be announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on official moon sighting proceedings.
