PTI chairman says party hopes for Imran Khan’s release this week
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Tuesday said that the time has come to find a way forward regarding the release of the party’s founding chairman.
Speaking to the media outside the Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar stated that the PTI leadership was not disheartened and remained hopeful that Imran Khan would be released within the current week.
He remarked that the PTI founder was imprisoned unjustly, as the cases against him were purely political in nature. Barrister Gohar said the party believed the situation had gone on for too long and that “some solution must now be found.” He added that they were praying for Khan’s release in the coming days.
Earlier, Barrister Gohar, along with lawyers Salman Akram Raja and Ali Zafar, met Imran Khan at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Following the meeting, all three leaders departed the facility in separate vehicles.

The authorities also granted permission to two of Imran Khan’s sisters, Uzma Khan and Noreen Khan, to meet him, and both proceeded inside the jail. However, his other sister, Aleema Khan, and senior lawyer Qasim Zaman Khan were reportedly denied visitation.
Prior to the meeting, PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan was stopped at the Dahgal checkpoint while en route to the jail. PTI leaders Ali Muhammad Khan and Niazullah Niazi were also stopped at the same location. Meanwhile, Aleema, Uzma, and Noreen Khan were held at the Gorakhpur checkpoint before being partially allowed access.
The restrictions on party leaders and family members have drawn criticism from PTI, which continues to press for what it calls the “unjust incarceration” of its founding leader.
