Amid rising outrage over the recent militant attack in Pahalgam, Indian citizens, including prominent voices like vlogger Neha Singh Rathore, are accusing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of exploiting national tragedies for political gains.

Neha Singh Rathore, known for her candid social commentary, bluntly criticized BJP’s tactics in her recent vlogs. She alleged that the party creates security hype and spreads a war narrative to consolidate power ahead of critical elections.

Rathore’s criticism highlights a broader discontent within India, where citizens are increasingly questioning the motives behind sudden surges in nationalistic rhetoric.

Neha is now facing a sedition case for questing the Modi government narrative.

Pattern of major incidents during BJP’s tenure

The Pahalgam attack follows a troubling pattern of high-profile security failures during BJP-led governments. Key incidents include the Kandahar hijacking (1999), the Kargil War (1999), the Parliament attack (2001), the Godhra train burning (2002), the Pathankot attack (2016), the Uri attack (2016), the Amarnath Yatra attack (2017), and the Pulwama attack (2019).

Each of these events has not only raised serious security concerns but also coincided with critical political timelines, prompting accusations of manipulation for electoral gains.

Political stakes ahead of Bihar elections

With Bihar elections on the horizon, analysts argue that the BJP appears to be leveraging national security concerns once again to galvanize public sentiment. Critics accuse the party of diverting attention from pressing internal issues such as unemployment, inflation, and social unrest by focusing on militant threats and military posturing.

Despite the severity of the recent Pahalgam attack, no high-ranking officials have resigned or taken responsibility for the apparent intelligence and security failures. Critics argue that the government’s primary focus seems to be stoking fear and anger, even at the cost of innocent lives, to serve narrow political interests.
