Son of govt employee booked under PECA for false TikTok video in Kasur
In Kasur, the son of a government employee has been booked under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for filming a fake TikTok video claiming he received a government car and Rs5 million from the Punjab Chief Minister. He and his accomplice have been arrested.
According to Ganda Singh Police, the accused Haramain Sharif is the son of Tufail, a driver employed with the Environmental Protection Authority. Haramain, along with his friend and fellow TikToker Khizr, filmed a video inside an official government vehicle. In the video, they falsely claimed that the Chief Minister of Punjab had awarded them Rs5 million and the vehicle as a reward.
A case was filed by the Deputy Director of the Environment Department under various sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the Pakistan Penal Code. Both individuals have been taken into custody for misusing government property and spreading misinformation.
