On the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Karachi traffic police continue their city-wide crackdown on traffic violations.

A progress report presented to the chief minister revealed that between April 4 and April 14, authorities impounded 7,860 motorcycles for riding without helmets and other traffic rule violations.

Additionally, 596 vehicles with fancy number plates and tinted windows were targeted during the operation. The report also highlighted that 193 dumpers and tankers were fined for lacking proper fitness certification and over-speeding.

The chief minister had earlier mandated a speed limit of 30 km/h for heavy commercial transport vehicles operating within city limits. Based on recent inspections, the traffic police recommended revoking registrations of 25 vehicles found unfit, and proposed the temporary cancellation of registrations for 144 more heavy and light vehicles due to fitness issues.

He stated that strict enforcement of traffic rules must be ensured across the city, adding that tough measures would continue to protect citizens’ lives and property.
