Inspector General (IG) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, stated that the operation was launched following intelligence reports of terrorist presence in the Khan Khel Mandzai forest, located within the jurisdiction of Tajori and Bargai police stations.
The joint operation was carried out under the leadership of Lakki Marwat District Police Officer (DPO) Jawad Ishaq, with participation from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Quick Response Force, and local police units.
At around 10:45AM, a fierce gun battle ensued between the police and militants, lasting approximately two hours.
