Authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district are investigating allegations against Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, who is accused of impersonating a British cardiologist named Dr. N John Camm.

Yadav allegedly performed surgeries at Mission Hospital, resulting in the deaths of at least seven patients.

Yadav reportedly used forged documents to pose as a UK-based heart surgeon and conducted procedures, including angiographies and angioplasties, between January and February. Concerns arose when patients’ relatives questioned his credentials, leading to the revelation of his true identity.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has initiated an investigation into the matter. A team led by NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo is scheduled to visit Damoh from April 7 to 9 to examine the case.

Mission Hospital, where Yadav operated, is associated with the Ayushman Bharat scheme and receives government funding. This connection has raised concerns about the misuse of public funds. The hospital has initiated an internal inquiry, and authorities are scrutinizing the involvement of hospital officials and administrative personnel.

Legal actions are underway, with charges including fraud, forgery, and criminal conspiracy filed against Yadav. The investigation aims to hold accountable those responsible for the alleged malpractice and prevent similar incidents in the future.
