Over 1,355 Afghan nationals deported from Pakistan since April 1, confirm officials
Pakistani officials reported that over 1,355 Afghan nationals have been sent back across the border since April 1.
The process of repatriating illegal foreign residents in Pakistan is underway in phases, with Afghan citizens being returned via the Torkham border.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department, over 876 individuals holding Afghan Citizen Cards were sent back to Afghanistan on Sunday.
Meanwhile, operations against illegal foreign residents are also continuing in Punjab, where over 1,047 Afghan nationals were taken into custody and transferred to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for repatriation.
Sources showed that at least 1,047 Afghan citizens are set to be formally deported today through Torkham, with relevant authorities managing this process in an organized manner.
Illegal foreign residents in Punjab
The government’s campaign to deport illegal foreign residents is continuing without pause, according to official sources.
So far, over 4,111 individuals have been deported, while over 5,950 have been moved to designated holding centers, the spokesperson said.
As per Punjab Police, 46 holding centers have been established across the province, including 5 in Lahore.
Additionally, at least 1,839 illegal residents are currently housed at various holding points.
Inspector General (IG) Punjab stated that the deportation process is being conducted under strict security protocols and with full adherence to human rights standards.
Punjab Police Chief Usman Anwar has directed senior officers to expedite the deportation process and ensure that all illegal foreign nationals are returned to their respective countries in an organized and lawful manner.
Afghan refugees in Attock
In Attock, a large-scale crackdown is also ongoing against illegal Afghan migrants, with hundreds being apprehended.
Following the March 31 deadline, Attock police have detained over 705 Afghan nationals and moved them to a camp set up at a technical college.
This group included women and children, and at least 365 Afghans have already been transported to the Afghan border with the assistance of elite forces.
The remaining residents at the camp are receiving final hospitality from the government.
Afghan migrants in Rawalpindi
In Rawalpindi, police actions against Afghan citizen cardholders are also in progress.
Reports indicated that over 130 individuals have been detained and transferred to a camp, with police teams conducting operations in various areas.
Authorities have stated that card-holding families will also be taken into custody and sent back to Afghanistan, with operations occurring daily.
