‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ achieves highest IMDb rating in K-drama history
When Life Gives You Tangerines has become the highest-rated Korean drama on IMDb, surpassing major titles like Squid Game and Song Hye Kyo’s The Glory.
The show experienced a consistent rise in its IMDb rating, increasing from 8.7 to an impressive 9.3 following its finale.
When Life Gives You Tangerines has become a worldwide phenomenon.
Twelve episodes of the series have received scores of 9 or higher, allowing it to officially surpass several well-known titles, including Kingdom Season 2 (8.2), Move to Heaven (8.5), The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call (8.4), the globally acclaimed Squid Game Season 1 (8.0), and Song Hye Kyo’s revenge drama The Glory Season 2 (8.1).
Last week, the drama reached No. 1 on Netflix’s global non-English chart, having previously maintained positions at No. 3 and No. 4.
The series concluded its 16-episode run on March 28.
According to the IGAWorks Mobile Index, 14.09 million active viewers watched Netflix Korea in March 2024, with March 29 (the day after the finale) alone attracting 4.05 million daily active users.
According to IMDb, the show tells the story of “a spirited girl in Jeju and a steadfast boy, whose island tale evolves into a lifelong journey of setbacks and triumphs, demonstrating that love endures through time.”
