Punjab University launches major operation to remove illegal hostel residents
The Punjab University administration, in collaboration with police, executed a large-scale operation aimed at evicting illegal occupants from the university’s hostels.
During this effort, numerous unauthorized residents were expelled, and their possessions were confiscated.
The operation encompassed raids on 17 male hostels and 11 female hostels.
Sources reveal that all hostels at Punjab University are set to be sealed by April 8, with entry for non-allotted students being strictly prohibited during this period.
This operation marks the first instance in two decades where such actions have been taken against illegal residents in hostels, many of whom were associated with student organizations that had occupied various rooms.
According to the university administration, the hostels can accommodate up to 8,000 students, and starting April 8, only those who have been officially allotted housing will be permitted access.
