Karachi faces terror threats as attackers target police officials
On Friday, unidentified terrorists targeted a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) mobile unit near Northern Bypass, throwing a hand grenade at the police vehicle.
According to details, the threat of terrorism in Karachi is escalating, following recent attacks on police officers.
CTD sources reported that unidentified attackers hurled a hand grenade at the police vehicle, which hit the car but exploded some distance away.
Sources further stated that the attack occurred when the police mobile was returning from an operational duty. Following the incident, law enforcement agencies tightened security in the area and deployed additional personnel.

CTD officials have confirmed that an investigation has been launched to track down the attackers, and no casualties have been reported in the incident.
Hand Grenade Attack on Police Camp Under Quaidabad Bridge
In another incident, a hand grenade attack targeted a police camp under Quaidabad Bridge in Karachi, injuring three police officers and a pedestrian.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Irfan Ali Bahadur, told Dawn that authorities are treating the incident as an act of terrorism, though no group has yet claimed responsibility.
According to initial investigations, suspects threw a hand grenade from the bridge, which landed inside the police camp, SSP Bahadur stated.
SSP Malir, Kashif Abbasi, confirmed that the injured include two personnel from the Police Qaumi Razakar Force (PQRF) and one officer from the Special Security Unit, along with a pedestrian. He further added that an investigation has been launched into the attack.
As per Edhi Foundation, the injured have been identified as 26-year-old Yusuf Amin, 23-year-old Junaid Pervaiz, 26-year-old Fayaz Mazmal, and 25-year-old Zohaib Qudoos. They were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment, where their condition is reported to be stable.
FIR Registered for Cracker Attack on Police Camp Under Quaidabad Bridge
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered for the cracker attack on the police camp under Quaidabad Bridge in Karachi.
The case was lodged at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on behalf of the state, incorporating sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act and Explosives Act, among other charges.
According to the FIR, at the time of the incident, police officers Abrar, Abdul Rasheed, Raja Tanveer, Khan Gul, Junaid, and Yusuf were present at the camp. At exactly 1:05 AM, a loud explosion occurred near the camp, injuring police officer Junaid, PQRF personnel Yusuf, and two pedestrians, Amin and Fayaz. The injured were immediately transported to the hospital via ambulance for medical assistance.
The preliminary report suggests that unidentified terrorists carried out the hand grenade attack with the intent to kill and create chaos and fear in the area.
Law enforcement and security agencies are actively searching for the attackers, while security has been further tightened across the city.
It is worth noting that on March 1, 2025, a hand grenade attack on Karachi’s Preedy police station late on Friday night left three police officers injured.
