Pakistan to receive $2.3bn from IMF under EFF and RSF arrangements
Pakistan is set to receive a total of $2.3 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) following staff-level agreements under two financial arrangements, according to IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack, who is also the Fund’s director communications.
In a press briefing, Kozack explained that the IMF Executive Board had approved a 37-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement for Pakistan amounting to $7 billion on September 25, 2024. She confirmed that a staff-level agreement on the First Review of the EFF was reached on March 25, 2025.
“So again, just stepping back to explain where we are with Pakistan. On September 25th of 2024, the Executive Board approved a 37-month EFF arrangement for Pakistan, and it was for $7 billion. The First Review mission took place recently, and a staff-level agreement on the First Review was reached on March 25th,” Kozack said.
She further added that once the First Review is approved by the IMF Executive Board, Pakistan will receive $1 billion. In addition, Pakistan will have access to $1.3 billion under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), which will be disbursed in tranches over the course of the program.
“For the RSF over the length of the arrangement, again subject to approval by the IMF’s Executive Board, the staff-level agreement references an amount of $1.3 billion and that access will be over the life of the RSF, delivered in tranches,” Kozack stated.
Kozack also spoke about IMF engagements with Lebanon regarding a potential new economic program. Full details of the briefing are available on the IMF’s official website.
