Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has summoned an operational plan to combat AIDS in the Tehsil of Taunsa.

This decision follows a special meeting where the potential causes of the AIDS outbreak in the Dera Ghazi Khan area were thoroughly discussed.

A joint mission comprising representatives from UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Health and Population Department has been established.

This mission is set to trace the history of affected children from April 7 to 14, to provide actionable recommendations for AIDS control and prevention.

In addition to tracing efforts, the Chief Minister has mandated household screenings in the affected areas to ensure comprehensive health assessments.

Special treatment centers for AIDS patients will be established at the Taunsa Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and other medical facilities, with a commitment to providing free treatment for affected children.

Maryam Nawaz has also directed officials to identify the root causes of the AIDS outbreak and those responsible for its spread.

She stated that there will be zero tolerance for any shortcomings in the treatment process for children suffering from the disease.
