Army chief General Asim Munir leads mother’s funeral prayer
Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir led the funeral prayer of his late mother, who passed away due to natural causes.
The solemn ceremony saw the presence of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other high-ranking civil and military officials.
During the funeral, national leaders expressed their condolences to General Munir and prayed for his mother’s soul. Alongside senior officials, a large number of people from the public also attended, reflecting the widespread sympathy for the army chief’s loss.
National leadership offers condolences
President Asif Ali Zardari extended his heartfelt sympathies, stating, “In this moment of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved family.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed sorrow, assuring the army chief that the entire nation stands with him in this difficult time.
“We share the sorrow of the bereaved family and pray for the departed soul,” read an official statement from the PM’s office.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq joined in offering condolences, saying he was deeply saddened by the news.
“I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the family and pray for their strength during this painful time.”
Ministers, political figures express sympathy
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conveyed his condolences, praying for the departed soul and patience for the grieving family.
Prominent politicians, including Senator Sherry Rehman, Syed Khurshid Shah, Punjab Governor, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi, also sent their messages of sympathy.
As the nation mourns alongside the army chief, the outpouring of condolences underscores the respect and solidarity extended to General Asim Munir in his time of grief.
