David Warner to lead Karachi Kings in PSL 2025
Karachi Kings has announced that former Australia opener David Warner will captain the side in the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League, according to the sports website espncricinfo.
Kings’ first pick in HBL PSL draft in January, David Warner will be replacing the former skipper Shan Masood.
“We have a fantastic line-up and I’m super excited to take on the role of captain this year,” Warner said.
Kings’ owner Salman Iqbal said Warner’s “track record as leader and match-winner aligns perfectly with our vision” while paying tribute to Masood, whom he expected to remain a “key player in the squad”.

The Kings are looking to overcome a tough stretch that has kept them out of the playoffs for the past three years. Since winning their only championship in 2020, they haven’t been able to repeat that success.
Warner recently led Sydney Thunder to the final of the 2024-25 Big Bash League, seven years after Cricket Australia handed him a lifetime leadership ban following the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town in 2018. The ban was lifted last year.
