Toba Tek Singh Maria murder case: Father and brother sentenced to death
An Additional and Sessions Judge in Toba Tek Singh has sentenced the father and brother of Maria Bibi to death for her murder.
According to the verdict announced by Judge Abdul Hafeez Bhutta, the primary accused, Maria’s real brother Faisal, and her father Abdul Sattar have been handed the death penalty. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 million on each convict.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz, the brother who filmed the incident, and Samira, Maria’s sister-in-law, were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
The court concluded that all four accused were present inside the room at the time of the murder.
The primary suspect and Maria’s real brother, Faisal was accused of raping and murdering her.
The court cleared the brother Shahbaz, who filmed the incident, of all charges, while Maria’s sister-in-law, Sameera, was also acquitted.
On Apr,6, 2024 ,a police investigation revealed that Muhammad Faisal and Abdul Sattar were responsible for the murder of Maria Bibi, also known as Maria. She was smothered to death by her brother, who confessed to the crime to the police on Saturday.

The murder took place on the night of March 17-18, after which her body was buried discreetly.
A few days later, a disturbing video surfaced, showing Faisal smothering Maria while she lay unconscious on a charpoy, with her father, Abdus Sattar, present and offering a water bottle to Faisal after the act.
This viral footage prompted the arrests of both Faisal and Abdus Sattar, leading to the exhumation of Maria’s body, where authorities collected samples for forensic analysis.
According to Shahbaz, both suspects subjected Maria to incestuous abuse.
