Aamir Mir: PCB suffered no losses from hosting Champions Trophy
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman’s Adviser, Aamir Mir, has categorically stated that the board did not incur any financial losses from hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore alongside PCB’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Javed Murtaza, he clarified that the tournament was fully funded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) with a budget of $70 million.
Aamir Mir emphasised that PCB did not have to spend any funds on organising the event since the Champions Trophy was an ICC-owned tournament. He dismissed reports suggesting financial setbacks for the board as baseless and misleading.
He further accused the Indian media of engaging in propaganda against Pakistan, stating that it was essential to present the facts to counter false narratives.

Speaking at the press conference, CFO Javed Murtaza reinforced Aamir Mir’s statements, confirming that PCB had not suffered any financial damage and was, in fact, expecting an estimated profit of three billion rupees.
He also underscored Pakistan’s capability to successfully host major international cricket events, pointing out that the smooth execution of the Champions Trophy had proven the country’s readiness to organise high-profile tournaments on a global scale.
