Tragic death of Pakistan cricketer during match in Adelaide
A cricketer has died during a match at Concordia College Oval in Adelaide, Australia. Junaid Zafar Khan, 40, collapsed on the field as temperatures reached 41.7 degrees Celsius.
He had fielded for the first 40 overs and batted for 7 overs before his collapse. An ambulance was called immediately, and medical staff performed CPR, but Junaid could not be revived.
A friend of Junaid reported that he was observing Ramadan but had been seen drinking water on the day of the match.
The club released a statement acknowledging the efforts of paramedics, expressing sorrow over the loss of their player.
The Adelaide Turf Cricket Association’s regulations state that matches are canceled if temperatures exceed 42 degrees Celsius, with special precautions for temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
