Efforts to repair the track impacted by the Jaffar Express attack are underway, as the train remains stranded at the site, according to railway sources.

Train services have been suspended for the past six days following the attack on the Jafar Express.

Railway officials have confirmed that the Jaffar Express will be relocated to Sibi once the track is restored.

The attack has severely impacted railway operations in Quetta, causing significant inconvenience for passengers.

Authorities have assured that efforts to repair the track are being expedited, with the aim of resuming services as soon as possible.

A date for the resumption of train services will be announced once the repair work is completed.

Passengers are facing considerable challenges due to the suspension, but officials are committed to restoring services swiftly to alleviate the difficulties experienced by travelers.

How the attack unfolded

Jaffar Express departed Quetta at 9:30am on March 11. As it passed through Gudallar and Piro Konari, unidentified gunmen opened fire. The train driver was critically injured and later succumbed to his wounds. Several passengers also lost their lives.

Eyewitnesses and Levies sources reported that the train was halted in the mountainous region of Machh. The terrorists used explosives to destroy the railway track before opening fire, killing the driver and several passengers.

Following the attack, train services from Quetta to the rest of the country were suspended.

Security has been heightened at Quetta railway station, and a relief train carrying medical supplies is en route to Machh.
