Six Ahmadis arrested, 25 charged in Karachi’s Surjani Town, claims community
At least six members of the Ahmadiyya community were arrested and 25 charged in Karachi’s Surjani Town on Friday, the community claimed.
In a statement, community’s spokesperson Amir Mehmood said that a first information report was registered under sections 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 298 (uttering words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Mehmood alleged that their community members were arrested and booked after a mob pressured law enforcement to detain the Ahmadis gathered for prayer.
The place of worship had been sealed, it claimed.
Last week, an FIR was registered against some members of the community for allegedly performing an Islamic practice in Daska of the Silakot district.
