Acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Justice Sarfraz Dogar, has taken notice of allegations that court staff, transferred along with judges, were demanding bribes from litigants.

The action follows a letter from Justice Babar Sattar’s private secretary, prompting an inquiry into the matter.

Justice Dogar has directed an inquiry committee, comprising Registrar Yar Muhammad Walana and Additional Registrar Establishment Rai Muhammad Khan, to submit a report within three days.

On the direction of Justice Babar Sattar, his secretary wrote a letter to the registrar, with copies of the letter also sent to secretaries of all IHC judges.

The letter urged a thorough investigation and strict action against those involved to eliminate the malpractice.

The letter highlighted that IHC courtrooms and corridors are under video surveillance, allowing the registrar’s office to review footage from the past two weeks to verify the allegations.

If staff members are found soliciting money, they should face immediate disciplinary action, it added.
