Qamar Zaman Kaira: PTI follows policy of confrontation; its founder must learn a lesson

All cases against PTI founder are baseless, meant to keep him in jail, claims Barrister Ali Zafar

Senior PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira has accused PTI of adopting a confrontational approach, stating that its founder needs to learn a lesson.

Meanwhile, PTI’s Barrister Ali Zafar has claimed that all cases against the PTI founder are fabricated and are only aimed at keeping him behind bars.

PML-N’s Khurram Dastgir added that whenever Pakistan receives good news, both India and PTI react negatively.

Speaking on Aaj News’ programme “Rubaroo” with host Shaukat Paracha, Kaira remarked that the US President recently thanked Pakistan for its cooperation, but Pakistan is now paying the price for it.

“We should not celebrate this acknowledgment,” he cautioned.

He highlighted Pakistan’s complex relationship with the US, stating, “America serves our interests, yet we also see it as an adversary. Our public, especially religious groups, strongly oppose US policies.”

Commenting on PTI’s internal politics, Kaira stated that the party thrives on conflict.

“Some PTI members are only after power, and those who create chaos within the party are encouraged. Its founder must learn from past mistakes,” he emphasised.

During the discussion, PTI leader Barrister Ali Zafar defended his party, stating that PTI supports any effort to combat terrorism. He insisted that the cases against the PTI founder were politically motivated.

“These cases are just a tool to keep him imprisoned,” he claimed.

PML-N leader Khurram Dastgir also spoke about Pakistan’s evolving relationship with the US.

“We should acknowledge that our diplomatic ties with the US are stabilising, but this is a challenge, not a moment for celebration,” he said.

He noted that former US President Donald Trump had criticised India while praising Pakistan, a shift that could create new diplomatic opportunities.

Dastgir also criticised PTI’s political standing, claiming that the party is losing ground, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“PTI’s popularity is just a myth. Its founder deliberately fuels internal divisions within the party,” he said, adding that whenever Pakistan progresses, PTI and India both react negatively.
