ODI skipper Mohmmad Rizwan and former captain Babar Azam were dropped from the national team’s T20 squad for the New Zealand series as the Pakistan Cricket Board announced squads for the ODI and T20I series.

“It is an honour for me to become T20I captain,” Agha said while addressing a press conference in Lahore. Interim head coach Aqib Javed was also present.

Agha, the ODI vice-captain, spoke about the “intent” in modern cricket.

The all-rounder has been clinical in the recent series against Australia and South Africa, however, his performance was not up to the mark in the Champions Trophy.

Shadab Khan, who plays for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, made a comeback to the T20 team as a vice captain. Interestingly, Shadab leads the PSL team, where Agha is the vice captain.

“It is a challenging job to lead the team,” Agha said and called for “changing the approach” as per the needs of modern-day cricket.

In the recent past, fans and analysts have slammed the national cricket team for playing 90s-style cricket. They have blamed such an approach for consecutive losses in the events.
