The Government of Sindh’s Sports and Youth Affairs Department is all set to organise the ‘Karachi Open Chess Championship’ at the Frere Hall on Thursday (today) and tomorrow (Friday).

The event is aimed at providing a “platform for chess enthusiasts to showcase their skills.”

The event comes on the heels of the third National Youth Chess Championship 2025 held under the Prime Minister’s National Mind Sports Initiative at the Karachi Grammar School earlier this week.

Sindh government schools adopted by the Zindagi Trust had big victories at the event with three awards.

Mehak Maqbool of the Government SMB Fatima Jinnah School secured first place in the U-18 category. Yamna Siddiqui and Alina Siddiqui of the same school separately secured second place in the U-14 category and third place in the U-12 category respectively.
