In a security lapse, an inmate managed to escape from Adiala Jail, prompting the suspension of six jail officials for 90 days due to alleged negligence.
The escaped prisoner, Nauman Masih, was serving time in a drug-related case.
Reports indicate that the prison administration remained unaware of his escape until much later.
Following an internal investigation, the inspector general of prisons issued a suspension order against those deemed responsible.
The suspended personnel include Assistant Superintendent Altaf Hussain, Assistant Superintendent Sajjad Haider, Head Warder Muhammad Riaz, Warder Imran Khan, Warder Ammar Zahoor and Warder Sher Zaman.

Sources said that this is not the first security breach at Adiala Jail, with previous incidents of negligence reported in the past.
Despite multiple attempts, superintendent Adiala Jail remained unavailable for comment.
However, the Inspector general of prisons assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation, and those guilty of negligence will face severe consequences,” he stated.
