The oath-taking ceremony for seven new judges for the Supreme Court, along with acting chief justices for various high courts, has been postponed, sources said.

It was scheduled to take place today (Thursday), according to the Federal Ministry of Law and Justice notification.

Sources added that the oath-taking ceremony for the new judges has been postponed and would take place on Friday (tomorrow). The delay was “attributed to a holdup in the notifications regarding the judges’ appointments,” which were issued late last night by the law ministry.

Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar has been appointed as the acting chief justice of the Islamabad High Court. Moreover, the appointments of justices Hashim Kakar, Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, Salahuddin Panhwar, Shakeel Ahmed, Aamer Farooq, and Ishtiaq Ibrahim to the Supreme Court have been officially approved.
