A flag of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), entangled with a cluster of balloons, was found on a walnut tree in Gurekhra village of Gandoh, in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, officials reported on Saturday evening.

Images and videos from the scene, as circulated by Indian media, show the PTI flag caught among tree branches along with colourful balloons.

The incident has prompted an official investigation to determine its origin and significance.

A senior Indian police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that security agencies are examining all aspects of the case, Indian media reported.

“We are assessing whether this was an intentional act, cross-border mischief, or simply an airborne object carried by the wind,” the official said.

Another video from The Daily Hindustan has surfaced online, showing Indian police seizing PTI flags in Bhalessa, IIOJK.

In the viral footage, a reporter describes how the discovery of PTI flags in trees has unsettled security agencies, raising questions about their origin.

On Saturday, PTI’s organised protests, marking one year what the party calls the “rigged” elections of February 8, 2024. Multiple videos have emerged of PTI supporters releasing flags and balloons from Gujrat as part of their demonstration.

These airborne flags and balloons reportedly drifted into Indian occupied area, where Indian police seized them and documented the event through images and videos.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and are expected to release further details soon.
